Yep, if you want to get better at creative writing, analyze the best novels, and of course, practice a lot.

The mistake I repeat often is I don’t “read more” !

And I write in my own style.. I don’t care what others will think… bad of me !

You’re right, practice does make perfect. If you’re struggling or want to know how good you are, create a free blog and distribute it among friends.

Get them to give you some constructive criticism and see where it leads you.

Blogs are a great place to learn writing skills. For one, it’s short enough that even if it’s not very good people will still read it, and hopefully respond. Just make sure you don’t ignore advice, or let the simplicity of a short post make you lazy.

You can usually save a draft, let it sit till the next day or week, then come back to it and see if you still like it. If not, you can rework it and see if it’s improved before publishing.

I completely agree. I have noticed that my writing skills have improved considerably since I started blogging.

Doing the draft thing is a great idea. It is great to look at a post with a fresh mind.

Right on man, practice can’t be emphasized enough. That’s the only way I improved my skills during college. Writing was and still is required for anything you put your hand to.
