Choosing a Host

by Jake O'Callaghan

A host will put your website or blog on the internet!  Think of it like this:  a domain is a house that is floating in space.  With a host you can land that house on the ground.  Now everyone can access it.

Therefore, you need to get a host.  Without it you cannot create a website or blog.

Choosing a Good Host

Lets get back to your house:  if you could put your house in any neighborhood, where would you put it?

Right, a good wholesome neighborhood, not some ghetto.  It’s the same with hosting:  you could get a bad unreliable host and save a few bucks a month or you can get a good host for just a few dollars extra.

Your choice, but I can tell you from experience that a good host will save you a huge amount of time and stress.

A good host should have support through phone or email (at least), good amount of bandwidth (amount of visitors that can visit the site), a huge amount of space, and automatic script installation, just to name a few features.

If you truly want a quality host, it takes hours of researching and learning terms that not even most computer nerds know.  It’s not a fun experience.

That’s why I did the work for you.  After hours upon hours of researching I found that Hostgator is the best host for the price.  Hostgator’s features and support are second to none, and the price is the cheapest you will find for their services.

I recommend using the Baby Plan which costs 8 dollars a month.  This plan has everything you will ever need and more.

If you don’t choose Hostgator, well, I guess you can start looking around.  I could tell you some features to look for, but that would take thousands of words.  That’s why I recommend Hostgator

At my job we build a ton of websites so we know how important hosting is, I don’t believe we’ve tried hostgator yet though, I’ll suggest it. Thanks for the post

It is crucial that your service be uptime (functioning and accessible for use) . It means you can get access to your account whenever you desire to update your web pages, and users can enter your website whenever they refer to your site address.

I personally use Hostmonster, and recommend using Hostgator. Hostmonster is good, but there are some annoyances.
