You've nicely analyzed the usefulness of Forums to increase your traffic as well as for some SEO purposes. It is true that just by posting in Forums will not get you any traffic. There has to a serious effort to build up your reputation as a genuine member of the Forum who is willing to help others with nice tips. Your tips are really great to build up that process.

I've made extensive use of forums, since our business is pretty specialized. Frankly, there just aren't many worthwhile blogs focused on medical manufacturing items like "bioprocess containers." With that said, I'm not sure I agree with creating a "flashy" signature; I think one the communicates experience and expertise has worked better for me.

I recently joined forums but it took me some time to get warmed up to them. In the past, I found forum interaction to be difficult. Now, I joined three or four different forums around my interests. I've learned a lot, received more, given back and the rest is history. In this process, you may pick up some readers and traffic, especially if you wiped up a decent signature. Thanks for sharing. Cheers!

I love DigitalPoint because they show you latest post in all your forum posts. If you have a catchy post name you are sure to gain quite a few new visitors.

I always do forum commenting and these tips that you've listed are really great. Will give them a try, especially the sound like a GURU ^^

I only choose forums with dofollow signatures. Thanks for the article.

Great post. I tried creating and moderating a forum once and the things is they are a LOT OF WORK! I ended up having to scrap it. Definitely was great for traffic but I couldn't sustain it. Next time I try ti set one up I'll get some moderators setup ahead of time.
